Planning a trip to Patagonia?

There are some places in the world that they are unique, some because of their landscape or their people, their culture or the t experiences that we get when we visit them. Planning a trip is almost as fun tan to make it, that´s why in Pathandgo Experience we put all our knowledge at your disposal to help you plan the best way to travel in this part of the world.

In this blog we´ll give you some advices for planning your visit to Patagonia, to use your precious time and money as wisely as you can.

1.- It´s very important that first you have to define what do you want to see, know or experiment.

Patagonia between Chile and Argentina has near 490.000 square miles, where you can find not only a shocking nature, also you can make simple hikes or go to see a glacier, enjoy fishing, or make some of the most amazing rafting in the world.

Some places to visit.

Torres del Paine National Park, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, It´s ideal for the people who loves trekking, with trails from a couple hours to the O circuit that takes up to 7 days. Located approximately 100 miles from Puerto Natales, this national park in the middle of the Magallanes region is a place that everyone has to visit at least once in our lifetime.

Los Lagos Region or Lake district, for many people this the entry gate to the Patagonia, Puerto Montt is the capital city located about 600 miles south of Santiago of Chile, this place offers amazing places like the volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco incredible landscapes such is in the archipiélago of Chiloe or the chance of do rafting in the Petrohue river. Or just visiting very traditional cities like Puerto Varas or Frutillar.

Punta Arenas Chile, in previous blogs we talk about the must see of this city, with a very diverse history, it´s a mandatory stop for the people who wants to visit the Patagonia.

El Calafate in Argentina, it´s an important stop for the people who wants to visit the Los Glaciares National Park and the overwhelming Perito Moreno Glacier.

2.- prepare the right luggage.

We always said that Patagonia has a very hard a special climate that is very unpredictable so you have to choose very carefully the things to carry with you, anyway in this link we´ll tell you something about it.

3.- You have to consider the distances

It´s not a secret that the distances in Patagonia are long and a lot of excursions are for the whole day for example a bus from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales takes 3 hours in that trip you pass by different places like estancias and a lot of nature landscapes of the Patagonia, a flight from Santiago to Puerto Montt takes almost 2 hours (and the same distance by bus is about 12 hours) and a flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas takes About 4 hours.

4.- How much time you need to travel

You need to have this clear, so if you don´t have enough time you have to consider to make a second trip to Patagonia it´s always a good excuse to come back, but like we blog before the distances are quite big in the Patagonia as an example the W circuit takes about 7 days.
